There are many lessons we can learn from our pets, the greatest one of all being unconditional love. Pets can be wonderful and sometimes pets can also be pests, just like people. The difference is that pets (at least most of them) won’t hold a grudge (at least not for long) when you misbehave (snap, yell, ignore, forget snacks). They’ll never throw that temporary loss of sanity in your face at some later, inopportune moment.
Anyone who has a pet already knows the joy of unconditional love—both given and received. When your pet loves you unconditionally, it’s hard not to reciprocate in exactly the same way. And maybe that’s the true lesson that our pets can teach us—to be better people to other people. Here are four (and maybe more) lessons about unconditional love we can learn from our pets.
