Weekly Planets & Stars – Week of June 4, 2012

Venus Sun

Venus and the Sun

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – 2012 is a big astrological year of changes both big and small in all of our lives – and now that it’s June, you’ll see a month that epitomizes just how rare some of the astrological events of this year are. Hold on to your hats:

Monday – June 4

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius. We’re in between two new Moons in Gemini (to have two new Moons in any one sign is indeed rare) and the full Moon in between those new Moons is a full Moon lunar eclipse in Sagittarius (Gemini’s opposite sign). Both signs are famous for their ability to communicate although Gemini tends to communicate as a lifestyle and Sag tends to communicate more when there’s a conflict.

Tuesday – June 5

Venus conjuncts the Sun in Gemini. Venus will cross the path of the Sun in the sky and this is another rare event. Generally speaking this event will happen with 8 years between and then over 100 years between. Since the last time this happened was 2004 it is now the 8th year between two such events and the next won’t happen again in our lifetime – the next event being the year 2117.

Viewing: If you’d like to view this rare event, get some welder’s glass #14 – any other glass will not be safe – and hold it up to the sun. Although Venus is the brightest planet in the sky (only less bright than the Moon and Sun), it will appear as a little black disc travelling across the big yellow Sun.
